FELINES
It's Penelope's second birthday (according to the vet's estimate) and my mother is taking my youngest niece over to my apartment after school so they can sing "Happy Birthday" to her. I was going to go get her some celebratory tuna, but as the wind has picked up and I'm working on coughing up a lung, that little trip will just have to wait till tomorrow.

THE DAY
My eldest niece was involved in an outdoor art project so I went with my mom, sister and youngest niece to see it. We murmured appreciatively, then I went into a local bookstore.

Ever since I read that Stephanie Brown was the new Batgirl, I knew I'd be sucked back into buying comics. And if the first two issues of the new Batgirl comic are any indication, DC will be earning lots of my money. Bastards.

As we waited for our food to be brought to the table, I showed my niece and her friends the new-to-me trend of blurring fists or feet to denote action in some of the frames of the comic books. They were as impressed as I was and commented that they'd just started doing that in their art class. Cool, huh?

And now I just want to take a long nap. Sooooo sleepy. *yawn*

WEEKLY BLAH
I thought I was fighting a case of post-birthday ennui, but I was just tired because my body was fighting off a cold. I have lost the battle, but hope to be back to normal by Monday. Sacrifice a chicken for the cause, willya?

CONFESSION
Sometimes I watch repeats of NCIS and squint so I can pretend that Tony is played by Jensen Ackles. What? I heard a rumor that Michael Weatherly said that he based his portrayal on Alec (Jensen Ackles) from Dark Angel so I'm just making the mental leap is all.

Alec was supah fine, yo.

When I called my sister, she reminded me that it's been less than two years since my last accident (also not my fault).

When I called my brother, he laughed at me.

I wasn't even in my car this time!

It was parked nicely and properly and legally in front of my mom's house while I was inside helping her with booster club business when there was a knock on the door. The very nice lady apologized and we took picture and exchanged information and, because he is a conrol freak, I have decided to let my dad handle it.

I'm not shook up or angry or upset. I'm mostly just inconvenienced. Still, it means I'm driving my mom's car for a while and I know she's not crazy about that.

My dad is cheap so he and my mom don't have cable. Additionally, they have become addicted to a show about the drug cartels in Mexico and other countries south of the border (Seriously? It sounds fascinating.) and other news programs that air on Spanish-language stations.

This morning I called my mom to remind her to take a Claritin for her cat allergies prior to coming over to my apartment to wait for the maintenance people to fix my garage door.

"Leave your cable box on the Spanish stations so I can watch my shows." she said.

"Uh...."

"Telemundo, Azteca and Univision." she clarified.

"No. I know the names, I just... don't know where they are" I admitted.

I am such a pocha.

I love Supernatural. I really do. But my first and greatest love will always be the one season wonder, Space: Above and Beyond.
